FOR eligible high school students
Please note: Georgia College & State University's Dual Enrollment classes are held in-person.
Dual Enrollment is Georgia's program that allows eligible high school students to earn college credit while working on their high school diploma. The new law streamlines the existing dual enrollment options (Move On When Ready, Accel, and HOPE Grant) into one program with one funding source. By consolidating the existing programs into a single program, it will be easier for students and parents to navigate and take advantage of the available options to enroll in college courses while still in high school. Students MUST complete the 10th grade and be on track to complete the Required High School Curriculum.

1. Application
The Undergraduate application is used to apply as a Dual Enrollment student. Please submit ONLY ONE application and use ONLY that application all the way through to submission. Submitting more than one application will most certainly delay your admission decision.
Students who applied more than one year ago, but did not enroll, must submit a new application and all supporting documents. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Office at 478-445-2774.
GAFUTURES APPLICATION

Prior educational experience may not be omitted from an application package.

Financial Aid Process
Dual Enrollment Program Information and Applications for Georgia Student Finance Commission can be found here.
The Dual Enrollment Application has three parts:
- Part A: Student Section – should include parent and student information.
- Part B: High School or Home Study Program Section – should include student information and advisement of dual enrollment and high school requirements.
- Part C: Post-secondary Institution Section – should include student information and advisement of dual enrollment, as well as post-secondary course requirements.
The Dual Enrollment application is required each term the student plans to participate in the dual enrollment program and would like to receive funding from Dual Enrollment. The Dual Enrollment application requires the dual enrollment courses to be listed and approved by the high school/home study program and post-secondary institution. The courses must be from the Dual Enrollment Approved Course Directory located on GAfutures.org.
Due to class availability constraints, enrollment in the Dual Enrollment program will be limited.
Continuing Eligibility
Standards of Academic Progress for DE Students:
Dual Enrollment students are academically talented students who wish to challenge themselves to a higher level. Therefore, it is expected that these students are up to the rigor of college coursework and will typically perform in the upper percentile of their college courses, earning no lower than a “B”. Dual Enrollment students at GC must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Students who earn a 2.0 to 2.49 overall GPA will have one semester to raise their overall GPA to a 2.5. Failure to earn an overall GPA of 2.5 will result in a recommendation from the GC dual enrollment advisor that the student return to high school-level courses. Each case will be reviewed individually and discussed with the HS counselor.
Dual Enrollment students must also meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements. DE students must complete 67% of all attempted classes (can include credit from other institutions as well). Therefore, decisions to drop classes after the initial drop/add period at the beginning of the semester should be thoroughly deliberated and used only as an absolute last resort. Please note that the state’s DE funding program will not pay for a repeat of a course for which a “W” was previously issued, and in addition, all state funding for DE courses will be terminated after a DE student’s second withdrawal (“W”).
Violations of the GC Student Code of Conduct and/or Honor Code (i.e. plagiarism, cheating, etc.) will be grounds for Dual Enrollment Program dismissal.
Additional Information
Post secondary institutions are under no obligation to offer courses that will insure a student participating in Dual Enrollment will complete high school graduation requirements on time. Required textbooks will be available for rent at no cost to the student from the Georgia College Barnes & Noble Bookstore only.
Funding for eligible students enrolled through Dual Enrollment is available through the Georgia College Office of Financial Aid. Once awarded funding through this office, tuition and mandatory fees may be covered, but course specific fees will be the responsibility of the student.
